Jaguar Xf Electric Rear Sunblind

I have noticed that my rear power sun blind is acting odd. As far as I remember, it was working fine when I got the car, and now there is a little issue.

First of all, it still goes up and down fine and works as it should, BUT, the problem is, when I push the button to put it down, the motors keep running for about 5 seconds after the blind has been lowered to its place. They do stop, and pressing the button again will raise the bind fine. Then upon lowering it again, the motors will run for those few seconds until they stop. Also, if I lower it, then turn the car off, when I start up again, the first press of the button makes the motors run again, trying to lower it, but it is already down! A second press will raise it and from there on it works again, but still the motors run every time it is lowered.

Now, because they shut off, I'm not worried about them burning my car down from overheating or something like that. It's just kind of annoying and I know when I first got the car it didn't do this. It seems to be a more recent thing. Now I have had the back shelf out and looked it over and everything is fine. I was wondering if there was some way to maybe reset the closed position or some way of telling whatever sensor there is that when it's down it's DOWN (just like the power window reset after a battery disconnect). I have tried disconnecting the battery and all that stuff. I can't find anything about what might fix this.

Hi,I've had this problem on a Vauxhall Omega which I believe is an identical blind. When the motor is still running with the blind in it's lowest position, does it make a 'clicking' sound? These units don't have limit switches for the up and down position, they rely on the motor being timed, so it actually stalls for a few seconds when the blind reaches it's limits.

Normally you don't notice this, but what happens is the gears wear at the extremes of the travel (because the motor is still trying to turn them when they're stalled) and then they start to slip. As the wear increases so the blind stops working as there's not enough of the gear left for the motor to pick up on. I stand to be corrected on this as it was a long time ago, but I think I'm right!Cheers,Paul. Well, I tried the reset, nothing. I might try it again, since sometimes I have found it takes a few tries to get it to work. It doesn't make a clicking sound, just a sound like a motor still trying to pull down something that won't go further! I'll keep an eye on it but since I rarely use it (it's either up for days or down for days). As for the voice, easiest fit ever.

Just check to see if you have the prewire, it it's there, buy the module and plug in. It's just that easy!
